Based on advice from the Children’s National Organisation, oversleeping is not a problem, but is an important indicator of whether your child is sleeping adequately on a consistent basis. By regulating your child’s sleeping pattern, they should feel energised enough day-to-day to avoid oversleeping.

All human beings have relatively set sleep needs that differ across development, with children aged 4-6 needing between 10.5 to 11.5 hours, and children aged 7-11 needing between 9.5 to 10.5 hours. Find out more about how much sleep your child should be getting, take a look at our advice on this – http://advice.primarytimes.co.uk/index.php/2018/12/05/what-time-should-my-child-be-going-to-bed/

Knowing how much sleep your child needs is important and will help you establish a regular sleep period that is age appropriate in terms of duration and timing and which, in theory, will prevent oversleeping in your child.
